2008 Bad Usability Calendar

As you may have noticed from the small sampling in the Tech Affect blogroll, I follow a handful of IA and usability blogs. I believe that the core principles of information architecture are the same principles that should serve as the foundation for good marketing. That said, sometimes our industry (myself included) gets caught up in the coolness factor of online marketing and Web functionality at the expense of the big picture. A certain virtual 3D world comes to mind… I just found the antidote. Read more […]

High Tech Entrepreneurs

Last night a few of us attended a Meet Up group for Israeli High Tech Entrepreneurs in New York. The events are organized by Yaron Samid of Pando Networks. It’s a great forum to hear about emerging technologies, innovative start-ups and established firms that have an Israeli connection. This month’s meeting featured presentations by FlixWagon, OddCast and Aditall. FlixWagon is a new venture and it allows individuals to broadcast live video from their cell phone cameras on the Web. It’s a pretty Read more […]

Sadistic Customer Service & Masochistic Customers

Why do we do it? Why do we allow ourselves to be beaten to a pulp, used and abused and mercilessly left for dead on hold by sadistic customer service representatives from companies that we pay good money for their bad service? In the last few weeks, I have experienced an inordinate amount of appalling customer service. For my colleagues in the office, its quite funny that the cable guy has been to my house three times in one week. Thanks Cablevision! (Maybe the fourth time’s the charm because Read more […]
