NYC Social Media Week Wrap Up

Last week, many for various industries in New York City came together to celebrate all things social media at Social Media Week. Attendees gained insights and knowledge from social media experts and peers to discover emerging trends and the latest platforms. Affect attended 11 sessions at Social Media Week NYC shared learns from sessions on marketing, hashtags, social video, diversity in the tech industry, millenials in the workforce, social media and news development, data, analytics, social listening and journalism.

On Friday, Forbes Media discussed “How Marketers Can Leverage Opportunities in the Hybrid News Journalism of Today,” and Mark Howard, Chief Revenue Officer shared his belief that a consistent stream of non-promotional content is key in the development of trust for a brand among a readership. This is particularly true in the hybrid digital world, where people expect a constant flow of content and engagement through their mobile devices.

Cat Forgione is an Assistant Account Executive at Affect, where she engages with media on a daily basis on behalf of her clients, identifying opportunities to insert clients into break news stories and monitoring key trends taking place in the media. Cat is also an integral member of Affect’s social media team where she assists in the day-to-day management of channels and advises on digital strategy. Before becoming an Account Coordinator, Cat was an intern at Affect in 2012. Cat holds a BS in Public Relations from Virginia Tech.
