The mission of our Residency Programs is to produce highly competent and well-rounded diagnostic and interventional radiologists prepared to enter careers in private practice or academic radiology and to serve a diverse population both in our region and throughout the country. About the Program Program director: Paul M. Kiproff, MD Program length: 4 years (PGY2-PGY5) Allegheny Health Network (AHN) received approval by the ACGME for the Independent Interventional Radiology (IR) residency in 2018. Through October 21, 2020, we will accept applications for our two IR residents matriculating in July 2022 via the integrated pathway. As residents develop and strengthen their interpretive and interventional skills over the course of residency, resident responsibilities become more complex. Training may be one year with the Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) certificate supplied by a previous program or two years with a DR training certificate. The residency is a categorical program which requires completion of a surgical internship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Our diagnostic radiology (DR) and interventional radiology (IR) residency programs are closely integrated and share the common goal of fostering leadership and incorporating innovative technology into compassionate patient care. The Interventional Radiology Residency Program is dedicated to training physicians in minimally invasive, image-guided techniques to diagnose and treat diseases in nearly every organ system, while providing high-quality clinical patient care.
